Infrastructure projects in alpine and cold regions of Russia require rockfall barrier mesh capable of withstanding freeze-thaw cycles, soil movement, and sub-zero temperatures reaching down to -40°C.

To ensure high tensile strength and long-term corrosion resistance, the project demanded continuous weaving of thick heavy-galvanized or PVC-coated steel wire (diameter up to 4.0mm). 1. Dual-Rack Reverse-Twist Mechanism for High Torsional Strength

Challenge: Slope protection gabions in mountain roads must sustain severe physical impacts from falling rocks and ice accumulation without unravelling at mesh joints.

Solution: JIAKE incorporated a double-rack reverse-twist gear system crafted from heat-treated alloy steel. This mechanism ensures 3-twist or 5-twist hexagonal mesh joins are locked tightly without micro-fracturing the galvanized zinc layer, maintaining maximum corrosion resistance in snow-covered mountain environments.

2. Integrated Hydraulic Flattening, Cutting & Edge Selvedging System

Challenge: Standard woven hexagonal mesh naturally coils and retains surface curvature, making on-site gabion box assembly difficult for installation crews in freezing weather.

Solution: The JIAKE production line features an automated inline multi-roll hydraulic flattening machine combined with a heavy guillotine shear. The flattened mesh sheets can be edge-wrapped (selvedged) seamlessly with heavy gauge border wire, allowing Russian operators to construct rigid gabion baskets rapidly on-site.

3. Low-Temperature Oil Circulation & Touchscreen Automation

Challenge: Continuous high-speed friction between heavy steel wires generates localized heat, while ambient cold requires reliable machine lubrication.

Solution: JIAKE installed an enclosed automatic forced-oil lubrication system that circulates lubricant continuously across main driving gears and rack channels. Controlled via an intuitive Siemens PLC touchscreen with Russian language support, operators can monitor output speed and cut lengths digitally.

Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) & Client Feedback

Before shipment to Russia, JIAKE conducted comprehensive 72-hour trial runs using 3.0mm and 4.0mm heavy-galvanized and PVC-coated steel wires across a full 4.3-meter weaving width.
